Wilma Griffith, of Mason, passed away on Wednesday, January 22, at the age of 89. Funeral services for Wilma Griffith will be held on Saturday, January 25, at 10:00 a.m. at the Mason Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in the Crosby Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be Friday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at Mason Funeral Home. Serving as pallbearers are Mitchel Bankston, Tony Martin, Joel Allen, Brandon Moneyhon, Jamel Jefferson, Zachary Langehennig, David Evans and Curtis Bankston. Honorary pallbearers are Danny Bankston, Louis Evans, Jerry Don Bankston and Steve Lackey.

Survivors include her daughter Susan Martin and husband Tim, of Mason two sons Richard Lee Griffith of Austin and Michael Griffith of Amarillo, a sister Shirley Marie 'Sue" Laramore of Peace River, Alberta, Canada and two grandchildren Trent Martin and wife Nicole of Leander and Misty Martin of Mason. Wilma was preceded in death by her husband Louis Griffith and by the following brothers and sisters: Austin Bankston, Ruby Hughes, J. C. Bankston, Nadine Evans, Mildred Schuessler, Sonny Bankston and Glen Bankston.

Wilma was born on April 10, 1924 in Mason County to Jim Dave Bankston and Renee Price Bankston. She attended school at Long Mountain, Grossville and Mason. She married Louis Griffith and they made their home in Mason. For many years Wilma worked as a care giver in Mason providing home help to those that could not care for themselves. Wilma was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church in Mason. She was a loving, hard-working woman who liked to bake and cook and take care of her garden. Wilma was known for her wonderful cakes that she sold at Northside Grocery. She enjoyed walking and would walk 2 miles a day before she was disabled by a stroke. She liked to go to garage sales and in earlier years played the guitar.
