Obituary

William Wayne Koock, age 89, of Kerrville, Texas, formerly of Mason, passed away on December 4, 2023.  William, also known as Bill, Billy Wayne or Opa to his grandchildren, was born January 22, 1934, to William Karl (Koockie) and Vera Dannheim Koock in Mason, Texas.  After graduating from Mason High School, he attended Texas Lutheran College for 2 years, leaving school after 2 years to help with the family business, Mason Bottling Company.  In December 1955, he, along with Bob Capps and George Keller joined the U.S. Navy.  He served aboard USS Tortuga, LSD-26, touring the Pacific Throughout 1957.  After his 2-year stint, he rejoined Mason Bottling Company, working full time from 1958 until 1998.

He married Lois Jordan on July 5, 1959, sharing 55 years together until her death in 2015.  Bill married Cynthia Marquevich on April 16, 2016.  He enjoyed going to eat out as well as going to the coast with his wife Cynthia.  Bill was an avid hunter, fisherman, football fan and golfer.  He loved traveling with Dr. Pepper and taking trips with his family.  He was a member of the Mason Volunteer Fire Department, served as President of Mason Bottling Company for several years, served on the St. Paul Lutheran Church council, including as President for 3 years, and Republican County Chairman for several years.  Bill also loved his time with the Emmaus experience.

Bill is survived by his wife of nearly 8 years, Cynthia Koock, daughter Lisa Koock Bilbrey of Round rock, son John Koock and wife Teresa of Art, grandson Franklin Parker of Lewisville, granddaughter Katherine Koock Chastain and husband Ryan of Valley Springs, great grandchildren Aiden Parker, Adelais Parker, August Parker and Elizabeth Chastain and numerous nieces and nephews.  Bill was preceded in death by his parents, wife Lois, sister Joyce Holloway, daughter Katherine Lee Koock, and grandson Richard (Rick) Bilbrey.

Visitation with the family will be Friday, December 8, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Mason Funeral Home.  The funeral service will be Saturday, December 9, at 11:00 a.m. at Art Methodist Church.  Interment will follow in the Gooch Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Fred Estes, Mitch Fairchild, Reed Fairchild, Blaine Hahn, Kyle Lange and Hunter Wenzel.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Association, Young Life, Operation Orphans and the Patriot Warriors Foundation.
