Wayne Carl Hofmann, Sr. of Mason, passed away on Wednesday, February 15, at the age of 78. Mr. Hofmann is survived by his wife Johanna Hofmann, of Mason, three children, Wayne Carl Hofmann Jr. and wife Tana, of Mason, Rebecca Schuessler and husband Buddy of Mason and Fritzi Odom and husband Aron of Keller, a sister Janice Bartlett and husband David of Mason, 8 grandchildren: Jeramy Schuessler, Patrick Schuessler and wife Janet, Ryan Schuessler, Dyllan Hofmann, Levi Hofmann, Ashleigh Odom, Kaelyn Odom and Rylie Odom, 1 great-grandchild. Brylee Schuessler and a brother-in-law John Wilhelm of Ft. Worth along with many nieces and nephews.

Wayne was born on September 30, 1938 in Mason to Kurt Karl Hofmann and Benellen Lehmberg Hofmann. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church, in Mason. On December 9, 1961 he married Johanna Wilhelm and they were together for over 55 years. Wayne was a graduate of Mason High School and worked at the Commercial State Bank in Mason for 39 ½ years starting as a teller and working up to be Senior Vice President. Wayne also enjoyed ranching and served his community and church. He served on the School Board, was President of the Mason Hospital Board and was President of the Church Council at St. Paul Lutheran Church. Wayne also served as a Mason County Commissioner for 16 years.

Visitation with the family will be Saturday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at Mason Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held on Sunday, February 19, at 2:00 p.m. at the Hofmann Ranch located at 6125 Highway 29 West.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Mason County EMS, Mason County Volunteer Fire Department, Mason Meals on Wheels or any local charity of your choice.
