Obituary

Our beloved mother, Vivian Olivia Terry Hahn, 90 years of age, entered eternal life on Thursday, August 2, 2018.  She was surrounded by family including daughter, Kathleen Wan, Terry Reed, Cindy Scoggins, their spouses and 8 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Carrol Hahn, parents BU and Ethel Terry, her brother Bobby Terry and great grandson Jonathan Reed McGeever.  She is survived by her brothers, Bill Terry from Houston TX and Benton Uel Terry from Angel Fire NM. She was loved by many nieces and nephews.

Libby was born and raised in Big Hill, Texas on the Humble Refinery. She graduated from South San Antonio High School in 1945 and received her teaching degree from Trinity University in 1949.  She met Carrol through her brother BU while Carrol and BU were attending Texas A&M.  Carrol and Libby married June 19, 1950 in San Antonio, Texas at Libby's childhood church, Browning United Methodist.

Libby taught many students in the over 30 years of teaching. After retiring her passion became her grandchildren, cross-stitching and baking her famous banana bread. She was an advocate for the many feral cats in Mason as well as her favorite family cats.  She cherished her family and loved to spontaneously entertain them with a piano recital and enjoyed playing many hours of Skipbo card game with her grandchildren. Her cross-stitch artwork won prizes at various competitions and her cross-stitch bookmarks can be found in many books and Bibles in homes throughout Central Texas. Currently several of examples of her extraordinary cross-stitch works of art are on display in the lobby of the Mason County Library.

In memory of Libby's love of reading, in lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donation in Libby's name be made to the Mason County Library.

A memorial service at Mason United Methodist Church is planned for Saturday, September 1, 2018 at 11am.

We are thankful to the citizens of Mason for their outpouring of condolences for our Mother, Libby Hahn.
