Virginia (Brooks) George was born Feb. 28, 1924 in Shreveport, LA to Mary Louise (Colvin) Brooks and Marcus DeLem Brooks.  She passed away at age 94 on ­­­­­­Tuesday, June 5, 2018 in Fredericksburg, TX.

She graduated from Fairpark High School in Shreveport, LA; then moved to Alexandria, LA and worked at the Hotel Bentley, eventually becoming Secretary to the Manager. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. There she met and married David Lloyd George in 1946.

In 1972 she went to work as Executive Secretary to Congressman Gillis Long until she retired.

Virginia and David lived in Lake Charles, LA until his death in 1995.  She then moved back to Alexandria, La. until relocating in Fredericksburg, TX in 2006.

She was active at the Golden Hub and a member of Holy Ghost Lutheran Church in Fredericksburg, TX.

She was preceded in death, by her parents, Marcus DeLem Brooks and Mary Louise Colvin Brooks; her sister, Marie Brooks Loflin, and her husband, David Lloyd George.

Virginia is survived by her children: Brooks Lloyd George and his wife, Barbara (Denny) George of Fredericksburg, TX; Jill Marie (George) Bufkin and her husband, Robert A. Bufkin of McKinney,TX; 5 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to The Golden Hub of Fredericksburg, or Holy Ghost Lutheran Church in Fredericksburg.

A visitation will be held at Holy Ghost Lutheran Church in Fredericksburg on Monday, June 11, from 5 to 7 p.m.. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, June 13, at 2:00 p.m. at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Pineville, LA.
