Virginia Jean Beam, of Mason, passed away on Thursday, January 3, at the age of 89. Funeral services for Virginia Beam will be held on Monday, January 7, at 2:00 p.m. in the Mason Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Colleen Haley officiating. Interment will follow in the Gooch Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be Sunday afternoon from 4 to 6 p.m. at Mason Funeral Home.
Mrs. Beam is survived by her children: Jim Beam and wife Pat of Sulpher Springs, Texas, Reall Beam Jr. and wife Edna of Clayhatchee, Alabama, Denise Walker and husband Jim of Alta Loma, California, Wanda Connolly of Yuma, Arizona, Sue McCully of Mason, Texas and Kevin Beam and wife Regina of Jarrell, Texas, 8 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Reall "Rex" Beam a granddaughter Kimberly Walker and a son-in-law Terry McCully.
Virginia was born on July 14, 1923 in Creston, Iowa to James Lininger and Frances Ely Lininger. She graduated from hgih school in Pomona, California and worked at Vandenberg Air Force Base in Califronia prior to her marriage. On July 8, 1943 she married Reall "Rex" Beam in Florence, Arizona. They were together for almost 64 years until his passing in 2007. They lived in Pomona, California for over 30 years before moving to Mason in the late 1970's.
Virginia was a loving wife and mother whose career was caring for her family. She enjoyed cooking, canning and gardening along with collecting recipes, crocheting, knitting and raising animals. She was also a devoted care-giver for her mother for many years.
