Thomas "Tommy" Ray Starks peacefully passed away Wednesday , May 19, 2021 at his home in Mason, Texas, at the age of 90. Tommy was born July 30, 1930 to Bertha and Robert Starks in Mason, Texas.
Tommy was preceded in death by Alice, his loving wife of 59 years, his parents, Bertha and Robert, and his brother, Norman Starks. Tommy is survived by his son, Ray Starks and wife, Cynthia, of Mason, their daughter Audrey and her husband Max Whittingham, of Littleton, CO, and their son, Dylan, of Mason; his daughter, Nancy Starks Aycock and husband, Bill, of Mason, and their son John and his wife, Jessica, of Lubbock, TX.
Following graduation from Mason High School, Tommy attended Texas Lutheran College. Following college, Tommy enlisted in the army during the Korean War where he proudly served in the 2 nd infantry as Private 1 st Class. Following his service, he returned to Mason, met and married the love of his life, Alice. He worked for the State of Texas Highway Department building roads and bridges throughout central Texas for 37 years while simultaneously operating his Family Heritage Farm and raising their two children.
A devoted member of his community and church, Tommy volunteered for many organizations including the Food Bank, Community Kitchen, and Mason County Cancer Benefit, where he served for many years as a board member. He also served on committees for his beloved St. Paul Lutheran Church and rang the church bell for 24 years.
Tommy was a very sociable, generous man, who frequently delivered his home-grown vegetables and flowers around town. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Visitation will be held on Friday, May 21, 2021 from 5-7 p.m. at Mason Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 22, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church. Interment with military honors will follow at the Gooch Cemetery.
