Skily Wayne
Schuch
Jan 31, 1942 — Mar 10, 2024
Skily Wayne Schuch, "Popo", age 82, passed away on March 10, 2024. He was born in Fredericksburg, Texas on January 31, 1942, to Max and Ella Mae Schuch.
Skily married Diana Fields in Mason, Texas on February 4, 1967, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
Out of high school, Skily served in the United States Army as a tank gunner and after Army Separation, began trapping and relocating deer for Texas Parks and Wildlife. Not long after, Skily was hired on with Southern Pacific Railroad, later Union Pacific Railroad, and retired after 47 years.
Skily was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed his time outdoors. Skily and Diana spent countless hours following their only child, Canna, around for her extracurricular sporting activities. Skily's favorite pastime, however, was spending time with his only grandchild, Halle. Together, they hunted, fished, and had numerous tea parties.
Skily was a Christian man, loving husband, devoted daddy, extremely proud "Popo", brother, uncle, Godfather, and friend to many.
He is preceded in death by his wife Diana Fields Schuch, parents Max and Ella Mae Schuch, mother-in-law Lorene Fields, sisters Opal "Pete" Meyer and Leola Grote, brother Arles Schuch, and brothers-in-law JT Hill and Jamie Fields.
Skily is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Canna and Clint Scheib, granddaughter Halle Scheib and her boyfriend Quinten Baker, brothers-in-law Charles Fields (Nikki), Harry Fields (Regina), Walton Grote, sisters-in-law Rita Hill and Linda Fields, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Skily's honor may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
A Graveside service will be held on ________________ at the Schuch Family Cemetery (Gillespie County).
