Shirley Lou Waller Watkins, formerly of Mason, passed away on Tuesday, February 20, at the age of 88.  Shirley was born March 9, 1935.

Shirley married her Mason sweetheart, Marvin W. Watkins.  They had three children: Sandra, Susan and Michael.  Michael died a few hours after birth.  They later adopted a son, Allen Mathews, when he was only 8 weeks old.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children: Sandra Carson, Susan Scott and Allen Watkins Matthews; grandchildren Ashley Carson, Shawn Scott (Jessica) and Lindsay Price; great-grandchildren Ashtin, Anaiyah and Aria, Reagan Price (Anthony) and Logan Price; nieces and nephew Tonya Roberts (Rod) of Mason, Staria Carroll (Bobby) of Lampasas and Fred Dillard of Kempner.

Shirley was preceded in death by her infant son Michael, her husband Marvin, her mother Evelyn Waller, stepfather, George Waller, son-in-law Leo D. Scott, her brother Howell Waller a sister Georgie Cunningham and her father, James Frank Darter.

Shirley was a woman of quick wit, and enjoyed a good laugh.  She loved to cook, garden, paint and sew.  Shirley loved country music and was a fan of Willie Nelson.  She was dearly loved by all who knew her.

Funeral services will be held graveside at the Gooch Cemetery on Saturday, February 24, at 11:00 a.m. with pastor Tim Fahrenthold leading the service.
