Shirley Waidene
Dotson
Jul 31, 1948 — Jan 27, 2026
Shirley Waidene Dotson, lifelong resident of Brady, left us to be with the Lord on January 27, 2026. Shirley was born July 31st, 1948, to parents Edward and Geraldine Pitcox, and in August of 1963 she married her first love Jerry Dotson. Together they had two beautiful daughters, Tina and Darinda, which were her absolute pride and joy. Sadly in 1993 Jerry passed, and Shirley devoted her life to her girls. In January of 2010, Shirley was given a second chance at love when she married James "Buddy" Estes of Brady. Together they shared a life together on a quiet farm just outside of Brady, where Buddy tended to the cows and crops and Shirley made delicious home cooked meals while also working at Heart of Texas Hospital.
Shirley was known for her cheerful smile, her kind and generous heart and as the best mother, grandmother, and great grandmother that anyone could ask for. Her "babies" were her everything and she meant so much to all of them.
She is preceded in death by her parents Edward and Geraldine Pitcox, first husband Jerry Dotson. Daughter Tina Bucy and granddaughter Amber Bucy. Siblings Cecil Pitcox, and Diane Pitcox.
Shirley is survived by her husband James Estes, daughter Darinda Chew and husband Tim Chew of Mason, sister in law Evelyn Pitcox of Brady, Brother Dormon Pitcox and wife Dixie Pitcox of Brady, grandchildren Kevin Bucy and wife Daniela Bucy of Brady, Tyler Chew and wife Bekah Chew of Mason, Carley Sloss and husband Hunter Sloss of Mason, and great grandchildren Connor Bucy, Elli Bucy, Bowen Chew, Paxton Sloss, Walker Chew and Wrenlee Sloss.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 3, 2026, from 9am-11am with services to follow at 11am at the First Baptist Church in Brady, Texas. Interment will follow at the Rest Haven Cemetery in Brady.
In lieu of flowers Shirley asked that donations be made to your charity of choice.
