Sherley
Poston
Nov 13, 1939 — Mar 7, 2023
On an early spring morning, March 7 th , our Mom and Grandma stood tall and walked into heaven to be with her Lord and to hug Daddy. Sherley Kissinger Poston was born in McKinney, Texas on November 13 th , 1939 to Elsie and Woodrow Kissinger.
Sherley married Earl Poston in McKinney on September 20,1958 and they enjoyed 55 years of loving and working together. She loved telling us the story of how they meet when he would drive his shiny car around the square and in front of the Five & Dime store that she worked in, trying to impress her. Mom and Dad worked in partnership with his welding business from the start.
Their union was blessed with two daughters, Penni and Page.
Growing up with 3 younger brothers Mom loved the outdoors. She always had great stories from her childhood of fishing trips and camping with her family. She was also great at a lot of sports, she enjoyed playing basketball and softball , but she excelled at water skiing and roller skating. She always said her dream career would have been skiing at Cypress Gardens or being a part of roller derby.
Mom and Dad moved to the "Hill Country" in 1975 and they owned and operated London Hall and they met many lifelong friends there. Mom fell in love with helping Dad at the ranch and always loved the peacefulness of the Llano River.
Sherley was a faith member of the First Baptist Church of Fairview and later moved her membership to the First Baptist Church in Mason.
Sherley is survived by her daughters Penni Wilde and husband David of Wall and Page Wright and husband David of Hamilton; grandson Peyton Wilde of Lubbock and granddaughters Sawyer and Kelton Wright of Hamilton. Her brother Tom Kissinger and wife Peggy of Anna, sister-in laws Imogene Poston of Weston, Judy Kissinger of Ivanhoe and Linda Kissinger of Fairview.
Graveside service planned for Friday March 10 th at 2:00 p.m. at the Gooch Cemetery in Mason. The family wished to thank the staff of Focus Care in Hamilton and Elara Caring Hospice.
