Scott Edward Balmos

Our adored husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend went home to heaven on Sunday, March 01, 2026, at Baylor Scott and White hospital in Temple, Texas. Scott Edward Balmos was born to James "Jim" Balmos and Judith "Judy" Everett on November 27, 1968, the day before Thanksgiving, in San Antonio, Texas. Scott spent the majority of his childhood growing up in Bulverde, Texas, attending Smithson Valley High School, until his senior year of high school. He graduated from Canyon High School in New Braunfels, Texas in 1987. After high school, Scott ventured out to Costa Mesa, California where he attended Orange Coast College on a football scholarship. When he completed his two years at OCC, he chose to continue to play football at New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Scott had a huge passion for football and enjoyed his years playing in college, where he met several life-long friends who Scott would still call and talk with about the good ole' days. After graduation, Scott continued to teach and coach in Las Cruces for a few years until moving back to Texas. Scott's journey took him to several stops in the coaching world, including, Del Valle High School, Seguin High School and Boerne High School, all where he coached football and track.

In 2004, Scott was hired at Blanco ISD, and it was there that he met and married his faithful wife of almost 20 years, Linsey Ziriax Balmos. Scott and Linsey were married on June 17, 2006, in a castle located on the lake in Burnet, TX. It was a fairy-tale day. After their wedding, Scott and Linsey spent 15 years in the wonderful community of Blanco. In 2019, the coaching world moved Scott and his family to the central Texas town of Salado, where Scott coached football, track and taught health to middle school and high school students. In April of 2020, he suffered an aortic dissection. Scott battled for 64 days and prevailed. In 2024, Scott decided to retire from education and focus his days on his children and his family life. This journey eventually led them back to Linsey's hometown of Mason where they could be closer to family.

Scott is survived by his wife, Linsey, his children, Benjamin, Ryder, Harper and Karter Balmos, his father, Jim Balmos of Mico, Texas, his mother Judy Everett (Bobby) of Selma, Texas, his father and mother in law, Pat and Lisa Ziriax of Mason, Texas, his sister Wanda Clayton of San Antonio, Texas, his brother Shawn Balmos of Georgetown, Texas, his brother in law, Bobby Ziriax (Donna) of San Angelo, Texas, four nieces, one nephew, and many friends and former students. He will always be known as Coach Balmos to so many that knew and loved him. He was proceeded in death by his grandparents and his infant son, Baker Boyce.

Visitation will be held Friday, March 6, 2026, at Mason Funeral Home from 5 P.M. until 7 P.M. Funeral service will be Saturday, March 7, 2026, at Mason Global Methodist Church at 10 A.M. with a burial to follow at Gooch Cemetery. Pastor Stella Burkhalter will officiate.

Pallbearers are Bobby Ziriax, Guy Slimp, Danny Rogers. Michael Carlson, Robert Pazouki, Chad Baum, Chris Lay and Steve Manitzas.
