Obituary

Sarah Loeffler, of Mason, passed away on Tuesday, July 23, at the age of 94. Mrs. Loeffler is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Ellis, of Bangs, two grandchildren: Jon Ellis and wife Christy of Brownwood and Kristi Owen and husband Scott of Bangs along with four great-grandchildren: Seth Owen, Kary Owen, Garrett Ellis and Zachary Ellis. She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter Ernestine "Teeny" Loeffler, her husband Raymond Loeffler four brother and a sister and her son-in-law Robert Ellis.

Sarah was born in Brooklyn, New York on February 7, 1925 to George Smith and Sarah Lillian (Seitz) Smith. She was raised in Brooklyn and graduated from high school there. After graduation she worked at the Port of Embarkation in New York City and later, during World War II at Milford Air Base in New Jersey.

Sarah met and fell in love with Raymond Loeffler. They were married at the Presbyterian Church in Brooklyn and they moved to the family ranch in Mason County near Hilda. This must have been quite a culture shock for Sarah. In Mason Sarah worked at Peterman's Jewelry and at Benji's store. She also managed the Mason Housing Authority for several years.

Sarah was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Mason, was member of the United Methodist Women, a charter member of the 36 th division Memorial Association, the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and the Mason Historical Commission.

Private burial will be held on Wednesday at the Hilda Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be Friday, July 26, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Mason Funeral Home.
