Sara Eckert Banta went home to be with our Lord on December 25, 2021, at the age of 89 years. Born in Mason County on May 27, 1932 to Johnnie Martin Eckert and Meta Carolina Reichenau Eckert, she graduated from Mason High school in 1949.  She pursued a career in Nursing after graduating from TCU-Harris School of Nursing in 1953. Retiring in 1993, she continued her nursing career as the St Paul's Lutheran Parish nurse until 2019.

She married Joe Lee Banta at St Paul's Lutheran Church on May 31, 1952, and raised four children, Barbara Ann, Michael Travis, Debra June, and Brent Leroy.

Sara loved to learn new things. She expanded her talents in square dancing, painting, crafts, gardening, and baking.

She had much love to share with all and is survived by her four children, eight grandchildren; Travis Roberts, Regina Medlock Yount, Stephen Medlock, Lisa Medlock Gray, Jesse and Waylan Turner, Deborah and Sarah Banta; and eighteen grandchildren.

Sara loved life and lived it to the fullest with her many cousins, neighbors, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father Johnnie, mother Meta, and brother Travis Eckert.

She will be sorely missed by all. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, January 22, at 10:00 a.m. at the Bethel Cemetery at Camp Air.
