Rusty Dean Morris passed away peacefully on May 26, 2026, in his beloved ranch home surrounded by his loving family.

Rusty was born on February 11, 1960, in Midland, TX and built a life anchored in family, hard work, and a deep love of the outdoors.

Rusty is survived by his wife Michelle, his children Randall (Bridgette), Kasey, Colton, Colby, Mitchell Tennison, Cassandra (Ben) Johns, Abigail (Micah) Gingrich; grandchildren Austin, Breanna (Patrick), Lexie (Michael), Walker, Raylynn, Hadlee, Cayden, and Jude; great-grandchildren Riggins and Evelynn; sisters Jan (Mark) Crawford, and Jennifer (Chad) Arnold; mother Glinda Duke; and dozens of nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.

Rusty's childhood was marked by summers spent with cousins on a farm in Seminole, Texas. Those years ignited his lifelong love of being outside — enjoying nature, quiet early-morning sunrises, and golden Texas sunsets. After graduating from Huntington High School in 1979, he began the next era of his life: building his beloved family.

Rusty relished being a dad to a blended family of four children and three stepchildren. He was always present at soccer, baseball, cross-country and band events, offering life lessons in his quiet and unassuming way. He was a loving and faithful husband to Michelle, giving her the freedom to be herself while grounding her in the things that truly mattered. Most of all, he was her best friend.

Rusty achieved his ultimate dream of becoming a man of the land when he and Michelle bought Morris Ranch in Mason, Texas in 2016. From dawn until dusk, he played with big ranch machines, tinkered with projects, and relished sitting quietly in a deer blind or on his porch. Of those tranquil early mornings, he poignantly said, "You get to watch the world wake up."

Rusty will be remembered as understated but thoughtful. His humor often appeared unexpectedly, with a dry delivery and mischievous smirk. Though he was a quiet presence, he found joy in being surrounded by extended family and friends. He showed love by filling the bellies of those he cared for, often with his signature juicy steak dinner. Most gatherings ended by the fire, with a glass of wine, classic country music, and epic stories from Rusty's past.

His happiest days were spent under the Mason sky, on the ranch he dreamed of, with the people he loved nearby.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, June 5 at 2:00 p.m. at Mason Funeral Home, 204 Post Oak St., Mason, Texas 76856.
