Ruben Castillo Avalos, age 70, of Mason, Tx passed away on Wednesday, March 02, 2022.

Ruben is survived by his brothers Antonio Avalos of Mason, Tx., Patricio Avalos of Mason, Tx., and Jose (Linda) Avalos of Brady, Tx., his sisters, Irene Menchaca of Mason, Tx, and Josie (Bobby) Hernandez of Brady, Tx, a sister-in-law Joyce Avalos of Rockdale and numerous nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by a brother Edward Avalos and by his parents.

Ruben was born on June 22, 1951, in Mason, to Jesus Avalos and Guadalupe Castillo Avalos.  He was raised in Mason and was a 1972 graduate of Mason High School.  Ruben worked as a meat cutter and also in produce for Super S grocery store and then for Lowes grocery store.  He also worked at the Senior Center.  Ruben enjoyed playing bingo and lottery scratch-off games.  He also enjoyed listening to Tejano music.

In lieu of flowers, the family ask that a donation be made to help off- set funeral expenses.

Visitation with the family will be held on Friday, March 4, from 5-7 at Mason Funeral Home with the Rosary to follow at 7:00.  Funeral mass will be held on Saturday, March 05 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Following the service, burial will held at the Crosby Cemetery.
