Our beautiful and fashionable mom was called home to be with our Lord on December 2, 2024.

She was born on October 26, 1937, to Francisco and Julia Paez. She married the late staff sergeant, Jesus V. Castillo, on September 6, 1969, and together raised five loving children.

She worked in the cafeteria for Mason ISD; was an office cleaner for Mason County News, and also did housekeeping.  After retirement, she enjoyed spending time with family and friends.  Some of her hobbies included crocheting, knitting, sewing, baking, reading her bible, and playing a good game of Bingo; and let's not forget her shopping sprees.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Francisco and Julia Paez; sister Francisca Paez; brother Julian Paez; Jose G. Berumen, son-in-law; Juan Valles, son-in-law; and her husband.

She is survived by her children, Alicia Ibarra and husband Pedro; Maria Elena Valles; Salvador Castillo; Rosie Castillo-Berumen; Jesse Castillo and wife Kerrie; Laura Rodriguez, sister; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

She will be remembered for her strength, courage, and drive to move the family forward, after the sudden loss of our dad in 1987.

Thank you for always loving and guiding us through life.  We will always carry your loving memory in our hearts. This is not a good-bye…we will see each other again one day.

Visitation with the family will be Wednesday, December 4, from 5-7 PM at Mason Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 05, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at Mason Funeral Home with interment to follow at the Crosby Cemetery.
