Obituary

Ronnie Nelson Holloway

1947-2023

Ronnie Nelson Holloway, of Pontotoc, Texas passed away from this life into his Heavenly home on Wednesday, August 23, 2023, at the age of 75.

Ronnie was born on November 20, 1947, in Brady, Texas to Lonnie and Wanda (Chew) Holloway. He spent his school age years in Mason as well as Llano, graduating in 1966. After his High School graduation, he went to Commonwealth College of Mortuary Science, in Houston, Texas where he received his associate degree.

On May 24, 1969, he married the love of his life Lydia Kay Walker in Lake Jackson, Texas. They spent 54 wonderful years together.

Ronnie started his career in the funeral industry in El Campo where he worked as a Funeral Director before he and Kay moved to Llano in 1969. Ronnie worked for Llano Funeral Home until 1974.  He and Kay then moved to Menard and purchased what would later become Heritage Funeral Home of Menard and later opening locations in Brady as well as San Saba. He owned and operated each location until his retirement in January of 2020. He was also a very proud member of the Pontotoc Volunteer Fire Department, Llano Volunteer Fire Department, Brady City Council, Chamber of Commerce of Llano, Hospital Board of Menard, as well as a member of the Texas Funeral Directors Association for over 50 years.

Ronnie had a love for life and enjoyed everything to the fullest, from riding motorcycles with his son and friends, to working the ranch land in Pontotoc, and exploring the beauty of the mountains in Cloudcroft, New Mexico. But his greatest love of all was his wife, family, and his "hounds". He was always willing and ready to do whatever was needed in order to help anyone. He did not know a stranger.

Left to cherish and honor his memory are his loving wife of 54 years, Lydia Kay (Walker) Holloway; son, Randy Nelson Holloway and wife Mikey; sister, Cathy Holloway; 4 granddaughters; Cassie Holloway, Paige Waite & Lee Cox; Abbey Waite and MaKenna Dickinson & husband Shiloh; as well as 2 great grandchildren; Landyn & MaKinley Cox
