Robbie Nell Kuykendall Alkek of Mason, Texas, passed away peacefully on May 10, 2023, with her son by her side.

Robbie lived her final years with Alzheimer's. While the disease robbed her of her memory, Robbie's family takes comfort knowing that when she transcended this earthly life to her eternal afterlife, Robbie's recognition was restored, and she was overjoyed to be reunited with the many loved ones who greeted her at Heaven's gate.

In her 85 years, Robbie was a devoted daughter, sister, coworker, friend and beloved "Aunt Robbie" to dozens of nieces and nephews and their children. Her most devoted role however was as a mother.

Robbie was born in Fredonia, Texas on March 15, 1938, to Elvan and Lucretia (Chesser) Kuykendall. She was the fourth of five children all who continued to be close throughout their lives. As a child, she and her family moved frequently due to her dad's work in the oil fields and Robbie learned from an early age to be easy going, resourceful and adaptable as she attended multiple schools. Some of her happier memories were during junior high school in Ozona, Texas, where she was a cheerleader and made life-long friends. Her family then moved to Victoria, Texas and Robbie graduated with honors from Patti Welder High School in 1956.

In 1958, Robbie married AB Alkek, Jr. and gave birth to her beloved son, Larry Wayne in 1959. From then on—through life's ups and downs—she and Larry were by each other's side. Eventually they moved to Mason, Texas to be closer to her parents and sister Marie and family.

Once in Mason, Robbie began what would become a nearly 25-year career at the Commercial Bank. Though she could sometimes be shy in a crowd, she shined in her one-on-one relationships and was kind and patient to customers and friends alike, always working to find a solution or answer to their question.

Robbie's faith in Jesus and her family were the cornerstones of her life. She and Larry were members of what is now River of Life Church for many years. One of her greatest joys was watching Larry play guitar on the praise team. She also enjoyed annual trips with her sisters that started in 1997. With her sister Merle at the wheel, the sisters traveled through Tennessee, Mississippi, Louisiana, and Florida, laughing all the way, and did cruises through the Caribbean.

Being part of a large, close-knit family, Robbie always looked forward to the times they could be together. When they were, gatherings were usually centered around good home-cooked meals and full of laughter and loud talk over cards, dominos, or football all while a pack of her nieces and nephews ran circles around her yard and played into the night.

Robbie was always very close and lived near her mother. She stayed with and cared for her until her mother's passing. When Robbie was diagnosed with Alzheimer's in 2012, after years of caring for her son, Larry stepped into the caretaker role and was devotedly by her side for 11 years.

Those who Robbie joined in Heaven were; her parents, sister, Marie Mixon, brother Wayne Kuykendall, nephews, Billy Ty Cattan and Kirk Owens, brother in laws Ray Mixon, Bill Cattan and niece Pam Cattan.

Robbie is survived by her son, Larry, sisters Merle Cattan and Jerrie Owens (Robert), sister-in-law Janine Kuykendall. Nieces and nephews Susan Boyd, Randy Mixon, Jill Matson (Mark), Tris Cattan, Linda Rust (Greg) Stephanie Parker, Eric Kuykendall, Jennifer Owens (Kirk) and Lee Owens (Stephanie), along with many great and great-great nieces and nephews that "Aunt Robbie" dearly loved.
