Ricky (Rick) Glenn Tatsch Sr. was born in Forth Worth, Texas on December 20, 1958, to Gene and Dorothy Tatsch. Rick was the second of five boys and learned quickly how to establish his place at the supper table. Rick grew up in the ranching world and developed a passion for anything that involved being outside. Rick loved to hunt, fish and spend time sitting around a fire at night telling ghost stories to anyone who would listen. He was well known for being a kind and patient man, teaching several of his nephews and his niece how to drive, even if they were sitting on his lap. Most afternoons, if the weather was good, you would see him driving his mother and his great niece Avery up and down the road on his mule. He had a special way with all the little children in his life and they loved him every bit as much. Rick worked hard all of his life and learned many valuable skills along the way. He worked in ranching, and as a heavy equipment operator but was most famous for working along side his dad for many years at Tatsch Pump & Windmill Services. Many wells in Mason County have been "witched" by Ricky Tatsch. He received the "special gift" by Preacher Farmer many years ago and could accurately predict how deep and how fast that water would come out of the ground. Rick loved and was loved by so many. He enjoyed spending time with his family and special friends, the Farmers from up the road. Squeaky, Tessa and Cody became family to him and held a special place in his heart. Rick loved music and listening to Mason Puncher football on Friday nights. He did not enjoy being in the crowd at the Puncher Dome, but every Friday night like clockwork, you would find him next to a radio listening to the game. He learned from his mother as a little boy to appreciate music and developed a love of dancing. Rick could dance like no other and could "bust a move" to Wipeout like nothing you have ever seen. Rick will be deeply missed by his family and friends. His smile, his generosity, his stories, and his heart were made of pure gold. He was one of a kind. Rick was a son, a father, a brother, and a grandfather. He is survived by his mother, Dorothy Tatsch of Mason, a son Glenn Tatsch of Christoval, his daughter Stephanie Sparks (Terry Simonton) of Mason, four brothers Monte (Michelle) of San Angelo, Bobby (Linda), Mike, all of Mason and Brian (Cyndi) of Brady, and four grandchildren Colton, Noah, Kylie and Caycen. He is also lovingly survived by nephews Jason, Randy, Dustin, Jared, Cody and Kyle and a niece Kaycee as well as four great nephews and four great nieces. He was preceded in death by his father, Gene Tatsch

Visitation with the family will be held Sunday, August 14, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Mason Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be held on Monday, August 15, at 10:00 a.m. in the Mason Funeral Home Chapel.  Interment will follow in the Gooch Cemetery.
