Obituary

Dickie Sellman was born to Charlie and Vannie Sellman on July 28, 1935 in Rochelle, TX. Dickie is survived by his wife, Ida Ann; his children, Dee (Lee) Henrich, Sabrina Roberts and Chuck (Rhonda) Sellman; his grandchildren, Jared (Jayme) Henrich, Jayton Henrich, Brandon (Monica) Roberts, Austin Roberts, Justin (Breanna) Roberts, Kendyl Sellman and Kylie Sellman; and his eight great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Bill, Roy, Loula, Sue, Callie, Sarah and baby Charlie. Dickie was a humble man. After graduating high school, he worked in highway construction before joining the United States Army. After leaving the army, he moved to Cherokee, TX and worked on the Cherokee Ranch where he worked with great people that he adored. Ted Harmon and Robert Broyles were great friends and mentors to Dickie. He soon left the ranch to work at the Cherokee Feed Store under Glen Jones. Dickie quickly became Glenn's go-to man for everything. He even became his rehab therapist following Glenn's stroke. After he left the feed store, Dickie went to work for Norrell Construction Company where he worked hard and became a master carpenter. His final years of employment were with Kruger Construction Company where he built hundreds of homes in Horseshoe Bay. Dickie's work spoke for itself. What really made him stand out from others was his passion for his family and friends. He was at every practice, rodeo, track meet, baseball game, golf tournament, cross country meet, football game or stock show that he was invited to. It did not matter if you were a blood relative or not, Dickie and Ida would take anyone in who needed them. Lastly, as John Altizer said about Dickie, "A dad every kid should have. It would be a better world."
