Richard Harris Pierson went home to be with the Lord Saturday, December 24, 2016 while he was at home on Peaceful Hills Ranch. Dick was born in Baird, Tx. May 17, 1940 to Edwin and Jessie Mae Pierson. He grew up in Comanche, Tx and later the family moved to Jackson, Mississippi where he graduated from high school. He attended Texas A&M and then Tarleton State where he earned his Bachelors in Business. Dick was a leader in college organizations and was the company commander in ROTC. While at Tarleton, he met the love of his life, Dorris Ann Osburn. They married April 18, 1964 and soon after received his commission as 2nd Lieutenant in May of 1964 at graduation. In August of 1965 he was sent to Vietnam in the early stages of the war for one year. He was in charge of the advance petroleum supplies and MASH unit. Their daughter Tiffany was born in 1967. Dick was a top marketing representative for Mobil Oil Corporation for 25 years in Dallas, Tx. earning many awards. He was active in the church as a lay pastor in community groups and in church leadership positions at Bedford Methodist. He wanted to start ranching in Mason and attended TCU at night to earn his Ranch Management Degree. He and Dorris Ann moved to Mason and built their home on Peaceful Hills Ranch, producing Registered Angus cattle. In 2004 Dick had a life changing accident on the ranch in which he had to adjust to a new way of life. He was able to touch so many lives through this situation. He was such an example of strong faith, perseverance and love. In 2008 he was diagnosed with late stage Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma from Agent Orange in Vietnam. He was told he had weeks to live, but through God's grace and mercy, Dick was given 8 additional years. He made the most of it, investing in and blessing other's lives including his grandchildren. Dick is survived by his wife Dorris Ann, daughter Tiffany Mayes, son in law Scott Mayes and grandchildren Michael Harris Mayes and Macie Anne Mayes of Spicewood. He is remembered as having a kind and loving heart, being very generous, helping many people, active in many activities and doing everything with excellence. A Christian man of many talents, Dick wore many hats as a student, soldier, businessman, rancher, proud father and loving husband. He touched many lives and loved his family very well.
On Thursday, December 29th, visitation will be at Mason Funeral Home from 9:30-11:00 am. Funeral will be held the same day at Art United Methodist Church at 1:00pm with graveside service immediately following at Peaceful Hills Ranch.
Pallbearers will be Jack Asbill, Delvin Bauer, Michael Mayes, Scott Mayes, Ed Pierson and Daniel Pierson. Honorary pallbearers will be George Brannies, Dr. Mark DeLeon, Herbert Donop, Gary Donop, Nolan Donop, Grant Dostert, Kay Dudley, Kenneth Durst, Dr. Randy Hinckley, Jimmy Jordan, Roger Jordan, Leon Kothmann, James Lindemann, Macie Mayes, Richard Osburn, Larry Pierson, John Edwin Pierson, Dr. Andy Rosberg, Dr. Dave Rosberg, Dr. Schmidt, Curtis Schulze, Dr. Leo Tynan and Don Wills.

The family would like to put together a memory book for Dorris Ann. If you have a memory you would like to share, please write it down and deliver it to the funeral home. Cards for writing will also be available at visitation and the service.
