Richard ( Rick) Douglas Bilbrey, precious son and friend, went to live in his Heavenly home, to be in the arms of our Holy Savior,  Jesus Christ, and rejoice with the Heavenly hosts.

Rick was born in Austin, TX, on June 6th, 1985, to Lisa Koock Bilbrey, and Morris Newton Bilbrey, and passed to Heaven on July 18th, 2020.

Rick grew up and graduated with honors from Round Rock High School, excelling in academics, soccer, golf, writing, art, fishing, guns, and friendship. He was part of the South Texas Olympic Soccer Development team from middle school to end of High School, being the number 3 soccer player in the state of Texas, combining both the European and South American styles uniquely into his own. He loved hunting at the maternals side family ranch in Art, Texas, and just happy when he could fish with his Grandfather and Uncle and cousins at the coast. He had been encouraged to major in journalism in even middle school for his writing abilities.

Rick received a B.S. in Biology from Arizona State in Phoenix, and ran the Biology lab for Glendale Community College, in addition to owning his own business, Thunderbird Landscaping, LLC. He also had begun volunteering for the neighborhood association, to help the elderly, disabled, and needy, with their lawns, and other items, as a gift,  sometimes doing 10 yards a day. He was dedicated to service.

From the time Rick was born, there was a sweetness, and a zest for life. Rick gave the greatest hugs. He had a love that was selfless for others, a rock solid dependability, and a zest for life that was rare. In addition to being tender, funny, and often wise, he saw the world with a unique clarity and a forgiving kindness.  He loved God, believed Christ was his Savior. He absolutely was happiest outdoors, where he would know every plant's name, their family, and everything about them. The wonderful stories shared from friends around the world all shared the commonality that Rick knew how to be there for others, how to live a life that was rich in love, how to live life with Joy, and how he had a deep respect for nature and shared it with Joy. He had great Joy with his best friend and canine companion, Buddy.

Family members include his mother, Lisa Bilbrey, of Round Rock, TX  his father, Morris Bilbrey, of Murray, Kentucky,  his Grandparents,  Lois Koock, deceased, and  Bill and Cynthia Koock, of Kerrville, TX,  Morris and Frances Bilbrey, both deceased, from Murray, Kentucky, uncle and aunt, John and Teresa Koock from Mason, and many extended and treasured cousins and friends.

Services will be held Sunday, August 9th, 2020, at 1 p.m. at Gooch Cemetery in Mason, Texas. The family welcomes all who would like to celebrate Rick's life, and request social distancing and wearing masks be practiced.  Please feel free to bring your own lawn chairs, and water, if you would like. Flowers or plants can be sent through Wildflowers Florist of Mason, or memorial donations to the Desert Botanical Gardens Educational Program, in Phoenix, Arizona, where a special fund will be set up by Friday, August 7th, to honor Rick, that teaches children's and adults about plants, how to nurture them, and provide food for those in need, a dream dear to Rick. We would also like to acknowledge "A Cheap Ride" in Austin.
