Ramona Gibbs Nicholson went to be with her Lord on Friday, February 24, 2017, at the age of 77.

She was born November 2, 1939 in Fredonia, TX and raised by her grandparents Verna Lee and Dave E Gibbs. In 1958 Ramona graduated from Mason High School and married her true partner in life, Rocky Free Nicholson on May 30.
Rocky and Ramona had 2 beautiful children, Brenda Ann and Bradley Free. They raised their children in Austin but came to Mason to visit family often; loading up dogs, puppies, cats and kittens to spend weekends and holidays.
Mona loved her family beyond measure and bragged about her grandkids to anyone that would listen. She enjoyed going to her grandchildren's activities such as band, football, lacrosse, baseball, horse shows and dance recitals. She also loved going to Puncher football games or listening to them on the radio. Her other hobbies included hunting with her husband, going to the lake or coast for vacation.

Mona was not only a loving wife, mother and grandmother she received her Business Associates degree from Nixon Clay in Austin, TX. She also carried various rolls in law enforcement including working at Cedar Park Police Department and Wade Security Services.

She is survived by her loving husband, Rocky; daughter Brenda and son-in-law Terry of Austin; son Brad and wife Dawn of Liberty Hill; grandchildren Brandy Brown, Trevor Brown, Riley Brown and Destrey Nicholson.

Mona was preceded in death by her brothers David Fred Newman, Dorman Gibbs, J.T. Gibbs, David Gibbs and sister Virginia Sturdivant, along with her grandparents.
She loved being in the Texas Hill Country watching their cattle and the bluebonnets grow. She was proud to call Mason her home.

Visitation with the family will be Wednesday, March 1, from 1 to 3 p.m. at Mason Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday with Mark Kirby leading the service. Interment will be in the Gooch Cemetery. The pallbearers will be Brandy Brown, Trevor Brown, Riley Brown, Destrey Nicholson, Darwin Sturdivant and Donovan Vierus. Dayton Pehl will be an honorary pallbearer.
