Obituary

Pearl Emma Leifeste, of Art, passed away on Sunday, January 27, at the age of 100. Pearl was born in Mason County on October 18, 1912 to Adolph Vater and Medora Dannheim Vater. She was raised in the Art Community. On September 18, 1931 Pearl married Reuben Leifeste at the Art North Methodist Church. Their marriage was blessed with four daughters. Pearl's life was centered around family, home and church. Pearl was a very active member of Art United Methodist Church. Through the years she taught Sunday School and held every office in the Methodist Women's group.

Funeral services for Mrs. Leifeste will be held on Thursday, January 31, at 1:00 p.m. at the Art United Methodist Church with Rev. Cliff Krcha and Rev. Charles Dannheim officiating. Interment will follow in the Gooch Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are her grandsons. Visitation with the family will be Wednesday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at Mason Funeral Home.

Survivors include her daughters Lyndith Hinckley Kuhne and husband Jay, Goldie Lease, Janet James and husband Layton, Marilyn Kahan and husband Larry, 10 grand children: Brent, Randy and Dianne Hinckley, Dawn Hinckley Stevens, Mark, Michael, Terry and Jeffrey Lease, Kathy Lease Penn and Ryne Kahan, 11 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and six siblings.

Memorials in her honor may be made to Art UMC, Art East Cemetery or the charity of one's choice.
