Obituary

Pablo Macareno, of Mason, passed away on Monday, March 14, at the age of 73.  Pablo was born in Melchor Muzquiz in Coahuila, Mexico on June 8, 1948.  He came to the United States when he was 17 and became a U.S. citizen.   Pablo worked for the Zesch family helping with ranch work, construction, and maintenance.  There wasn't much he couldn't do!  After that, he worked with the Berreles family for many years doing masonry work.

Pablo was a hard worker, but in his spare time enjoyed spending time, and having a beer, with his friends.  He also liked to hunt and fish.  Pablo was also known for the great sausage and jerky that he made and was also known to make a wonderful fish soup.

Pablo Macareno is survived by his sons Steve Macareno of Carlsbad, NM, Pablo Macareno and Victor Macareno, a daughter Mary Isabel Macareno of Mason, two brothers Eduardo and Adalberto Macareno both of Mexico, a sister Isabel and husband Jorge L. Rivera of Mason, grandchildren: Jalen Macareno, Christian Macareno, Joaquin Macareno, Steve Macareno, Jr., Gabriel Gonzales, Milam Macareno, Ivan Macareno, Victor Macareno Jr., Jesus Macareno and numerous nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his mother Fidencia Macareno.

A rosary and private visitation were held at Mason Funeral Home.  Pablo's cremated remains will be buried in Mexico, at a later date.
