Ouida Schuessler, of Mason, passed away on Monday, March 20, at the age of 80. Ouida is survived by her husband Dwain Schuessler, of Mason, a daughter Tori Dutton of Mason, three grandchildren Lindsi Dutton of Houston, Kinsey Dutton of Mason and Tanner Dutton of Brady and two great-grandchildren Delaney Rein Terry and Madison Dutton.
Ouida was born on August 8. 1936 in Grit, Texas to Alfred Kinsey and Jessie Martin Kinsey. She was a graduate of Mason High School and attended business school in Austin. On December 10, 1955 she married her high school sweetheart, Richard Dwain Schuessler at the First Baptist Church in Mason. They were together for the next 61 years!
Dwain and Ouida moved to Midland where they owned a floor covering and home interior business. They moved back to Mason in 1972. They bought Leifeste's Inc. and operated it until 2000. Ouida worked full-time at Mason National Bank (Mason Bank) and also helped Dwain with the business. Ouida and Dwain were members of the First Baptist Church in Mason.
Ouida was a great cook and loved cooking for family and friends. She and Dwain also enjoyed traveling and camping throughout the United States.
Visitation with the family will be Wednesday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at Mason Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 23, at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Mason with Pastors Ryan buck and Ray Ash leading the service. Interment will follow in the Grit Cemetery.
