Obituary

Olga Myrle Carlson 7-6-1932/11-18-2020

Our family lost our guiding light on Wed November 18 th , 2020 when our sweet mother passed away peacefully with her family by her side at home in Erna, Texas.

Olga Myrle McDaniel Carlson was Born in Aransas Pass On July 6 th , 1932 to Mattie Elizabeth Reed Mcdaniel and Hobart Garrett McDaniel. She cared and loved deeply for her Siblings, Burrell, Melva, and Dovie.

She met the love of her life Donald H Carlson on a blind date in Roswell New Mexico and they were soon married on Dec 7 th 1951.  They welcomed their First Child Donna Sue Carlson in 1954, and soon to follow Larry Howard Carlson was born in 1956. Arvid Garrett Carlson arrived in 1959.

Myrle stated she was just a house wife, but she was the glue that held the family together.  She was a loving, caring and giving person, especially to her children and grandchildren, as well as a multitude of adopted family that she called her own. She was always there for support and guidance.  Myrle was dedicated to her Christian beliefs and read her scriptures daily with Don. She always had the answers for our questions and would find scriptures to show you the way.

After retiring from raising the kids and traveling all over the world with Don and the children in the Air force, Don and herself retired in Erna Texas in 1969. She was a very independent women, and passed that independence along to her children and placed so much knowledge in each of us. She would dance to her own beat and never met a stranger. She had so much charm and stubborn fortitude but absolute devotion and loyalty to the family.   She always sang to us at the dinner table, to get us to go to sleep, car rides. Everything she did came from the heart.

She is proceeded in death by the love of her life and partner for 69 years Donald H Carlson who gained his wings in September, Her older brother Burrell McDaniel. Sister Dovie Gribble, and granddaughter Annette Cavness.

Those left to cherish her memory, her only remaining sibling Melva Hodges.  Her daughter Donna Cavness & Jimmy Brewer, sons, Larry and wife Sharon Carlson, and Arvid Carlson.  Her grandchildren: Tonya Cavness and Robert, Kelsey and Justin Sullivent, Amanda Carlson and Scott, Sarah Carlson, Garrett Carlson and great grandchildren : Lindsey Cavness-Yanish and Sara Carlson.  Her nephews Chuck Hodges, Darryl and wife Chris Gribble, Cameron Hensley, Barry Gribble, Brandon and Stephanie Gribble,Tyler, and Dylan.  Nieces, Becky Gene Balistreri, Colleen McDaniel Morrow, Patricia Hodges Cartwright, and Elizabeth Hodges Bixler. Longtime Friend and neighbor Betty Locke, her church family and countless adopted family and all the friends she has made over the years.

No words could ever truly describe how wonderful our mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, friend, Aunt Babe was or how deeply she was loved and will be missed. She is back in the arms of her true love and her Savior and what a beautiful reunion it must be.
