Norma Sagebiel Kothmann of Mason passed away Friday ,October 16, 2009 at the age of 87 at Knopp Nursing Center in Fredericksburg. Funeral services will be held graveside at the Gooch Cemetery in Mason on Tuesday, October 20, at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Tim Scheffel officiating. Visitation with the family will be Tuesday afternoon from 12:30 to 1:30 at Mason Funeral Home.

Norma was born August 16, 1922 in Gillespie County. As a young girl she moved to Llano County with her parents and brothers.

Norma married Mayfield Kothmann in January of 1942. They resided in Mason County their entire married life. She was preceded in death by her parents, Antoinette and Ben Sagebiel, her brothers Dan, Christian and Carlos, a niece Sara Nell and her beloved husband Mayfield.

She is survived by her daughter Mary Ann and husband William H. "Pete" Hammond, Jr. and grandson William Fields Hammond, all of San Antonio.

She was a homemaker and a lifelong member of St. Johns Lutheran Church, Castell, Texas.
