Nora Garner passed away at the Cuero Community Hospital on Monday, April 4, at the age of 85. Nora was born in Carson, Louisiana and lived in Westlake Louisiana as a child. She moved to San Antonio after high school and it was in San Antonio that she met her future husband Howard Dale "Rusty" Garner. They were married in 1949 and then moved to Victoria where they lived for most of the rest of their lives. Nora worked as a bookkeeper for many years and then became administrator of Twin Pines Nursing Home in Victoria. She continued to manage Twin Pines until retiring in 1992. She was a member of North Side Baptist Church in Victoria and was also a member of the Eastern Star.
Nora was a dedicated, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. After retiring she moved back to Louisiana to help care for her grandchildren and then moved to San Antonio to care for her great-grandchildren.
Nora is survived by her children Tommy Garner and wife Lynn of Victoria and Cindy Kowalik and husband Virgil of San Antonio. She is also survived by three grandchildren Erin Garner of Dallas, Jeffery Garner of Victoria and Justin Meyers of San Antonio and two great-grandchildren Mason and Ross Meyers.
Graveside services were held on Tuesday, April 5, at 10:30 at the Gooch Cemetery with Pastor Chad Barnett officiating.
