Merced Semorlan Smith of Mason, Texas, passed away on Monday, January 24, at the age of 79. Mrs. Smith is survived by her husband Brian Smith of Mason, and their daughters:  Loralee Smith of Lemoore, California, Karolyn Smith Hartvigsen (Rich) of Hext, Texas, and Bobbie Smith of San Antonio.  She is also survived by two sons from a previous marriage, Lloyd and Jeffrey Bramblett.

Merced and Brian have ten grandchildren:  JeanAnn Thompson (Christopher), Jackilynn Dewees, Sydney Hardin (Zach), Jackson Hartvigsen, Logan Frampton (Evan), Summer Hartvigsen, Brynja Cooper, Paydon Smith, Mykl Hatch, and Sanders Hatch.  They also have three great-grandchildren: Harlyn Thompson, Grey Thompson, and Nyko Hatch.

Merced is also survived by her sister, Natividad "Naty" Semorlan, of Surigao del Norte, Philippines.

Brian and Merced Smith were married in the Philippines in 1970. After many assignments and relocations with the US Navy, they retired and moved to Mason in 2008. Merced was best known for her delicious peaches, pecans, beautiful flower beds, and fabulous deserts.  She was known by many as a very nice, very sweet member of the community. She will be greatly missed.

Visitation with the family was held Tuesday evening, February 1, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Mason Funeral Home.  The funeral service was held on Wednesday, February 2 at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Fredericksburg, Tx.  Graveside service and interment followed at 3:00 p.m. at the Long Mountain Cemetery in Mason County.
