Obituary

Melanie Ann Eckert was born on February 7, 1972, in Brady, TX to Mike and Carolina Morquecho. She went to be with the Lord on May 21, 2022, at the age of 50.

Melanie was a strong and caring woman. She was an amazing mother, wife, daughter, sister, and friend. She was everyone's shining star who met her. She was her kid's number one fan on and off the field. At sporting events you could hear her cheering the loudest. The first thing you would notice about her was her contagious laugh. She was always the life of the party and lit up every room she would enter. You could routinely find her singing along to Def Leopard songs. She had a beautiful heart and put those she loved before herself. She enjoyed cooking meals for family gatherings. Her hard work and dedication to keep the fabric of family woven tightly will be severely missed.

Melanie graduated from Mason High School in 1990 and received an associate degree from TSTC Waco in 1994.  The family then moved to Burnet where she worked as a Legal Secretary and then went on to become a County Clerk Deputy for Burnet County. The family returned to their roots in Mason in 2011. There she worked side-by-side with her husband Donald of 32 years at their auto repair shop. She was also a Mason City Commissioner for District 2.  She enjoyed spending her free time with her kids, being at the river or lake, and traveling to new places. She was so happy to have travelled to a lifelong dream destination of Belize this May. There she hiked the mountains and floated on the river in a Mayan cave.

Melanie is survived by her husband Donald Eckert of Mason, son Jase Eckert of Mason, daughter Courtney Eckert of Austin, parents Mike and Carolina Morquecho of Mason, and brother Mark Morquecho and fiancé Monica Franco of San Antonio.
