Mary Beth Fleming was born in May 1940 in Wellington Texas to Gladys Manley Kelso and James Kelso. She passed away on May 15, 2020 at the age of 79. Mary Beth was preceded in death by her beloved husband Robert, and her parents.

Mary Beth grew up in Wellington Texas involved in just about everything! She rode her horse, Sugar, around town, integral part of home economic fairs; she was a cheerleader, band member and participated in singing competitions. She frequently sang for area events – and kept her beautiful singing voice throughout the years.

At Abilene Christian College, Mary Beth met Robert Fleming, the love of her life, and they married in 1959. Mary Beth later received a BSE Degree from the University of Texas at Austin. Throughout their almost 61 years of marriage, they valued faith and family first. Their kindness and compassion to everyone was how they lovingly expressed their faith.

She began her teaching career in Carmel, California in kindergarten until Robert was sent overseas to serve in the Army. Mary Beth obtained a special exception to also go to South Korea to be closer to Robert. She taught two English classes a day with over forty children in each class. Upon their return to Texas, Mary Beth choose to stay home to raise Deborah and Darron. She was heavily involved in all their school activities. She later went back to work at Brentwood Christian School and PCA Health Plans.

Over the years, she worked with Robert in Mason on the ranch – we lovingly called her the "Boss Lady" - and they were incredibly happy with their mutual love and respect for each other. We take comfort knowing they are back together again.

Mary Beth adored her children, and her four grandchildren. "Mimi" was always their best cheerleader for whatever they are interested in, and always carried numerous pictures to share with everyone. Her children and grandchildren are blessed with years of joy, laughter, priceless memories, and life lessons.

Mary Beth is survived by her daughter, Deborah Fleming and granddaughter Rachel Baptista of Austin; son Darron Fleming, daughter-in-law Heather Fleming, and grandsons Robert Fleming, Sean Fleming, Travis Fleming and his wife Kyla Fleming of Austin. She is also survived by her cherished sister Anna Kay Lockridge, and her husband Tom of San Antonio; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family wishes to thank the brave team of doctors and nurses at Seton Medical on 38th as she battled COVID-19 and her family was not able to be at the bedside. The family also wishes to thank primary care Dr. James Merriquinn for the all the kindness and support to our family throughout the duration of this illness.

Due to Covid, graveside service and burial at Fly Gap cemetery will be private. A public memorial will be held at a later date.
