Mary Ruth Bookout

Mary Ruth Bookout, of Mason, passed away on Friday, December 20, at the age of 86. A private celebration of her life will be held at a later date.

Survivors include her children Steve Bookout and wife Cindy of Caldwell, Richard Bookout and wife Nancy of Midland, Marty Johnson and husband "Dub" of Mason, Mark Bookout and wife Julie of Round Rock and James Bookout and wife Tina of Waller, 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Asa Caswell Bookout, a grandson Chad Bookout, a brother James Howard Bostic and a sister Jean Bradshaw.

She was born in Rocksprings, Texas on August 23, 1927 to Jasper Alto Bostic and Vala Josephine Cantwell Bostic. When she was four, the family moved to Carrizo Springs where she lived for most of her life. On December 31, 1947 Mary Ruth married Asa Bookout. They made their home in Carrizo Springs and their marriage was blessed with five children. She was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church of Carrizo Springs. After the death of her husband in 2005, she moved to Mason in order to be close to her daughter, Marty Johnson.
