Marvin Stahl, 80, of Mason, Texas, passed away on September 9, 2026, after facing illness with quiet grace. Marvin was born in Floresville, Texas, on August 23, 1946, to Marvin Walter Stahl Sr. and Lucile Rosie Pennartz Stahl. At the age of twelve, Marvin and his family moved to Mason, where he resided for the remainder of his life.

Marvin was known for his impeccable work ethic. Throughout his life, he worked a variety of jobs, including mowing, construction work, and truck driving. He later joined the Texas Highway Department, where he faithfully served for 37 years until his retirement.

On January 12, 1990, he married the love of his life, D’Ann Donaho Stahl. Together, they shared more than 36 years of love, devotion, and companionship.

Marvin proudly served in the Texas Army National Guard. He possessed a servant’s heart and generously dedicated countless hours to painting and maintaining the grounds of St. Joseph Catholic Church. His service to the church was recognized by the Diocese of Austin with the Lumen Gentium Award, presented by Bishop Gregory Ammon, which honors laity who accept the call to be the “light of the world” and “salt of the earth.”

He also devoted more than nineteen years to mowing and caring for the grounds at Fort Mason.

His hobbies included repairing antique tractors, hunting, traveling, visiting National Parks, and studying history, a subject he greatly loved. Marvin demonstrated steadfast and unwavering faith in the Lord throughout his life. He was generous with his time, always willing to help others, and deeply devoted to his family. Most who knew him considered him one of the kindest men they had ever met.

Marvin is survived by his wife, D’Ann Donaho Stahl, of Mason, their children: Tammy Donelson, of Mason, Twyla Murr(Doby), of Riviera, Cavitt Donelson (Brenda), of Maple Grove, MN, Tara Donelson, of Mason, brothers and sisters: Charles Stahl (Alexia), of Whitney, Ken Stahl (Sarah), of Mason, Melvin Stahl, of Mason, Gladys Stahl Garner, of Mason, Patricia Stahl Grohman, of Mason, grandchildren: Mason Murr, Audy Murr, Brooklyn Donelson, Kendall Donelson, Marie Roy, nieces and nephews: Shauna Stahl Griffin (Jason), Ashley Stahl (Kirk), Becky Stahl Walters (Mike), Heather Stahl Stone (Chad), Henry Garner (Teresa), Patrick Garner (Consuelo), five (5) great-grandchildren and numerous great-nephews/nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin Walter Stahl Sr., Lucile Rosie Pennartz Stahl, Jim Grohman (brother-in-law), Shirley Stahl Ischar (sister), Gary Garner (brother-in-law), Charles Ischar (brother-in-law), Ronald Goodman (brother-in-law), Norma Stahl (sister-in-law), Shirley Brown Stahl and Richard Mathews.

Marvin’s legacy of service, kindness, and faith will continue to shine through the countless lives he touched. His memory will remain a blessing to all who knew and loved him.

The family kindly requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Fort Mason Historical Society to support the preservation of our local heritage, and to the Mason Volunteer Fire Department.

Visitation with the family will be Friday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at Mason Funeral Home. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, September 12, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Interment will follow in the Gooch Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers are Cavitt Donelson, Audy Murr, Patrick Garner, Jason Griffin, Hayden Griffin and Shane Keith. Honorary pallbearers are Charles Stahl, Melvin Stahl, Ken Stahl and Rex Klingelhoefer.
