Marjorie Ann Bankston, of Mason, passed away on Saturday, April 16, at the age of 87 in Llano at the Llano Nursing and Rehab with her granddaughter by her side.  Marjorie was born April 7, 1935 in London, TX to Archie Burton Cavaness and Mary Etta Brown.

Marjorie was raised in Junction, TX until the age of 7 then her mother moved the family to Mason after the passing of her father. With that move came a lifelong friendship with Beverly Ann Thompson.  They have remained best friends for 80+ years and just recently reunited after 20 years of not seeing each other.

Marjorie met the only love of her life, Vernon Lee "Sonny" Bankston in 1952 and a few short months later they eloped and drove to Acuna, Mexico to get married and resided in Mason.  They were married for 25 years before his passing.

Marjorie was a loving and devoted grandmother, mother, and friend.  She had just celebrated her 87 ^th birthday a few short days prior to her passing with her family and her new family of Llano.

Marjorie was preceded in death by her father, Archie Burton Cavaness, her mother, Mary Etta Brown McWilliams, her grandson Lance Ray Bankston, and a son Mitchell Lee Bankston.

Marjorie is survived by a brother Johnny Mac McWilliams and wife Sunny of Killeen.  Marjorie was the beloved Mother of Jerry Don Bankston and wife Cindy of Elgin, Sheila Kay Carraway of Mason, Donald Jay Bankston of Mason and proud grandmother of Laurie Craig and husband Steven, Jennifer Bankston, Heath Bankston and wife Michelle, Jesse Walker, Sunni Turney and husband Jack; great grandmother to Kendra Patterson, Chance Craig and wife Abigail and Jacoby Patterson.  She also has 3 great greats as well Ian, Elijah and Ali.

She lived a full life as a wonderful mother and grandmother.  She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Mason for many years.  She loved to crochet lap blankets and pot holders until her hands just couldn't anymore.  She also was a very good cook, loved to watch Wheel of Fortune and play solitaire and Skip-Bo with her grandchildren.  When she lived in the country, she always had a love for cats and she fed them all her leftovers, never real cat food, and also had two chihuahuas, Princess and Queenie.

Marjorie has been in the nursing home in Llano for the last 8 months for some extra care that not any of us could have done alone.  She has had the time of her life.  She was treated like the beauty queen she is and loved and cared for on the daily.  She became the "Granny" of Llano.  Everyone who met her fell in love with her and her sweet spirit but don't let her fool ya, she was a bit feisty too.

She had a love for Mexican food but most of all she loved her family, friends and friends who became family.  She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Mason Funeral Home and will be held Wednesday, April 20, 2022 at the Mason Funeral Home with visitation from 10-11am.. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m., and a private burial will be held after cremation.  There will be a meal for the family directly after the service at the First Baptist Church.
