Maria Cipriana Castaneda Cantu Gonzalez, of Mason, passed away on Monday, February 15, at the age of 73. Maria is survived by her husband Isabel Cantu, of Mason, 3 children: Maria Cantu and husband Cody Jarvis of Mason, Isabel Cantu Jr. of Brenham and Connie Gonzalez of Bakersfield, California, a brother Carmelo Castenada, 2 sisters Maria and Josefina, 6 grandchildren; Alexander Arellano, Mason Jarvis, Brittany Cocanower, Matthew Cocanower, Nadia Elena Cantu and Amelia Marie Cantu.

Maria was born on May 15, 1947 in Fresnio Zacatecas, Mexico. In 1977 she married Isabel Cantu. Maria worked as a care giver at Anna Lee Nursing Home for many years and also was the cook at The Square Café for many years. Needless to say, she was a great cook! Maria enjoyed going to Fredericksburg and San Antonio and liked to crochet and sew.

A Rosary will be held Monday evening at 7:00 p.m. at Mason Funeral Home. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 23, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Interment will follow in the Crosby Cemetery.
