Obituary

Margie Lee Boyd, age 91 of Art, TX passed into the arms of her savior on Thursday, March 26, 2026, with her daughter by her side. Marge was born in Harvey, IL to the late Elmer Guy Welch and Clara Grace Berry. She was the youngest of their nine children and proceeded in death by each of her siblings.

Marge graduated from Thorton Township High School (IL) and went on to briefly attended business school in Chicago at Northwestern University Business School before she met and married Donald Boyd on October 16, 1954, at the Harvey Christian Church.  Immediately following the ceremony Marge began 64 years with Don that would take them back and forth across this country making homes in Oklahoma, Missouri, Pennsylvania, and multiple locations in Texas before fulfilling a lifelong dream to live on waterfront acreage. It was here in Art, at her home on the Llano River, that she spent the last 30 years of her life taking in the beauty of the river, the night sky, and growing old in a place that she loved. The final seven years she lived independently following the passing of her beloved husband, filling her days with friends from the local community who would often stop by for a friendly visit.

Margie is survived by her daughter Laura Strobel of North Richland Hills, TX, granddaughters Danielle Strobel Jr (Matthew Bough) and Rebecca Strobel, and great granddaughters Kathleen Bough and Samantha Bough, as well as numerous nieces and extended family members.

Interment was at Gooch Cemetery next to her beloved husband. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Art Methodist Church Children's Ministry because the future of a community is its children.

Online condolences may be sent to the family at masonfuneralhome.net
