Margaret "Maggie" King
Margaret "Maggie" King, of Corpus Christi, passed away on Monday, July 6, at the age of 52. Maggie is survived by her husband Lee King of Corpus Christi, 5 children Rachel Gray of San Antonio, Heath Gentry of Mason, Jason Lackey of Kerrville, Cody Gray of Galveston and Skylar Scofield of Austin, her mother Barbara Jones of Kerrville, 3 sisters Millie Barnett and husband Arthur of Galveston, Sadie Meaux and husband Dale of Kaplin, Louisiana and Tina Goff and husband Kim of Fredericksburg a brother Mike Jones of Fredericksburg, 3 grandchildren, including Tristan Gentry, her mother-in-law Minnie Gentry whom she loved as a mother, a step daughter Nicky Webb and husband Chris of Amarillo and a step-granddaughter Boston Webb. She was preceded in death by her brother John Robert Deforest, her father Tolbert Jones and by her father-in-law Roy Gentry who was a father figure to her.
Maggie was born August 4, 1956 in Kaplan, Louisiana. She was raised in Fredericksburg and was a graduate of Fredericksburg High School. She was a woman of many talents and many interests. Through the years she worked as a beautician, dental assistant, EMT, and as a corrections officer. She was a beautiful woman with long red hair that caused her grandson to call her "Grandma Red". She loved to read and fish and spend time in the sun. She was also a woman of faith who read her Bible every morning. She loved spending time with her grandson and she was a world-class cook and shopper! Most of all she was a loving mother, daughter and sister.
Funeral services for Maggie King were held on Thursday, July 9, graveside at the Art West Cemetery at 10:00 a.m.
