Lucille Margaret Lamar Cromwell was born in Hill City, MN on March 21, 1926. Also known as Lucy, Grandma & Mema. She was one of 13 children to John and Mary Lamar. She passed away Saturday, October 29, 2022, at home in Mason TX surrounded by family. She moved to Texas in 1960 and worked at Sears & Roebuck as a seamstress until she retired in 1982. She married Tom in 1968 and they were together until he passed in 2002. She loved spending time at her & Tom's lakehouse at Cedar Creek Lake, most always with family & friends. She loved the outdoors and always had a huge smile on her face when she was doing things outside. She loved her Brule River trips when she went up north to Superior, Wisconsin for her big family reunions. She was always ready to help Tom fixing and building around the house and lakehouse. When she and daughter Betty moved to Mason her favorite thing was holding the baby animals. She loved all her animals over the years, from her Ducks, Long Haired bunnies, a horse and her beloved dog Prissy. She loved being around her sisters and brothers more than anything, she took pride in all the Texans calling her a Yankee. Her favorite thing to watch was her Dallas Cowboys and liked to fuss with Ryder & Stephen because of their love for the Steelers. One of her favorite stories to tell was when Chris was little and she told him to stop slamming cabinet doors and he said "You tut up Mema!!" Lots of nights were spent in her back sewing room making costumes, dresses & drapes with Wendi & Betty. She taught herself to play the piano and loved playing the old Gospel songs. R.C. was always up for taking her fishing, especially the catfish farm in Forney. She was a kid at heart and loved Trick-or-Treating with Grandkids. We all got good laughs when she played tricks on Grandpa, especially the time they had just gotten in bed and she asked him to go check if the refrigerator was running and when he got back in bed she told him to catch it!

She is survived by her 3 sisters, Vi, Dorothy & Rose and baby brother Donald & nieces, nephews & great nieces & nephews.

Her son R.C. Williams & wife Ann and granddaughter Kelly. Great grandkids Brandy & Zach.

Her daughter Betty Carter and grandson Chris Shaw & wife April. Great grandkids Stephen Shaw, Shelbie Shaw, Heather Shaw & Kirsten Leatherwood and husband Tate. And great-great grandkids Sawyer, Paislee, Peyton, Kellan & Kaden.

And granddaughter Wendi Ellis and husband Stephen. Great grandkids Ryder and Finley.

Her daughter Jackie Payne and husband Barry & sons and grandkids.

Late sone Don Williams and grandson Steve Williams and wife Jennifer and grandkids and great grandkids.

Her favorite ex-son-in-law Mark Shaw and wife Sande.

She lived a full life for 96 years, and we are so thankful to have had her in our lives for so long.

A huge and loving thank-you from Betty for all of the help and support she received taking care of Lucy in her final months.

Graveside services were held on Thursday, November 03, 2022, at Laurel Oaks Memorial Park in Mesquite, Tx.
