Louisa Palacio Macareno, of Mason, passed away on Tuesday, August 9, at the age of 76.  Visitation with the family will be Friday, August 12, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Mason Funeral Home with a Rosary at 7:00.  The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, August 13, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church.  Interment will follow in the Crosby Cemetery.

Survivors include her son, Steve Macareno (Rosalinda Bonilla), a daughter Mary Macareno (Miguel Alvarez). two sister Irene Gloria (Andrew) and Rosalinda Martinez, three brothers Pete Palacio (Diana), Moses Palacio (Rosalinda) and David Palacio and eight grandchildren: Jalen Macareno, Gabriel Gonzales, Christian Macareno, Joaquin Macareno, Rio Macareno, Steve Macareno Jr., Milam Macareno and Lucas Alvarez Macareno.  Louisa was preceded in death by her parents Paulino and Anestacia Palacio and the following siblings: Mary Trevino, Frances Soto, Paul Palacio, Ricky Palacio, Alfredo Palacio, Daniel Palacio and her twin brother Louis Palacio.

Louisa was born on July 25, 1946, in Menard, Texas to Paulino Palacio and Anestacia Aguirre Palacio.  She spent most of her life in Mason.  Louisa worked at many jobs in Mason, including home health, at the Mason schools, Willow Creek, Mason Nursing Home and in earlier years working for the Zesch family.

Louisa, or "Chata" as she was known to friends, had a big spirit and a big voice to match it.  She loved being around people. Louisa was well known for the tortillas she made.  In her spare time, she enjoyed coloring and watching her collection of movies.
