Lou Etta Martin Probst, age 86, passed away in Fredericksburg, Texas and went to her Heavenly home on September 18, 2019.

Lou Etta was born in Grit, Texas on June 22, 1933 to William H. Martin and Jettie Beam Martin. She was the oldest sister of 10 siblings. Lou Etta attended Mason Schools where she excelled and was able to skip the 3 ^rd grade. Lou Etta quit school after 11 ^th grade so she could go to work and help support her younger siblings. Her family often said she was one of the smartest women they knew even though her formal education was cut short.

Lou Etta married A.J Probst on February 23, 1952 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Mason, Texas. They resided most of their married life in Camp San Saba, Texas. Besides being the mother of four children, Lou Etta was a homemaker and also helped her husband and family by working alongside them on the farm and ranch. Lou Etta worked in several retail stores until she became owner and operator of Young World children's store in Brady, Texas.

Lou Etta was very active in the St. Paul Lutheran Church Women's Group where she led and hosted Bible studies, assisted in Sunday school and Vacation Bible School, served as a sponsor of youth groups, participated and led the Altar Guild and served on various committees. She enjoyed serving the Lord by reaching out to others. Lou Etta supported many charitable organizations, including those providing services to ill children, veterans, persons with disabilities, international missionary projects, homeless youth and those dealing with hunger. She was an elementary school mentor for several years.

Lou Etta loved the role of being Meme to her grandchildren and great grandchildren who were the joy of her life. Lou Etta's talent and enjoyment of cooking and baking brought much pleasure to her family. There are many fond memories of sitting around the table enjoying fellowship and the wonderful dinners, cinnamon rolls and desserts. Lou Etta was an avid gardener and grew vegetables, fruit and beautiful flowers. She loved canning the fruits of her labors.

Lou Etta was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her granddaughter, Brittany Lynn Vines, her brothers, Howard Martin, Willie Martin, and Dan Martin and her sisters, Rita Faye Martin, Martha Martin, and Joyce Martin Smith.

Lou Etta is survived by 2 sons, Jerry Probst and wife Jaci of Springtown, Texas; Michael Probst and wife Gayle of Brady, Texas; 2 daughters Julie Vines and husband Jim of Waco, Texas; and Deborah Probst of Brady, Texas. She is survived by her sisters Melrose Sanchez and husband Robert of San Antonio, Texas; Lavonne Walthall and husband Dewey of San Angelo, Texas; Gerri Moran and husband Mike of Barre, Vermont; and a brother Wayne Martin and wife Carolyn of Brady, Texas.

Lou Etta is also survived by four granddaughters and their spouses, Blair and Mike Porter of Waxahachie, Texas, Kayla and Kelcey Land of Colleyville, Texas, Abby and Luke Jones of Izmir, Turkey, and Keely and Jake Maenius of Lubbock, Texas. She was the proud great-grandmother of Noah and Avery Porter; Mackenzie Irwin and husband Brayden; Keiser, Kason and Kreuz Land; and Knox Jones. She also leaves behind other special nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Pallbearers are Kelcey Land, Jake Maenius, Mike Porter, Chad Carson, Kris Eckert, and Kinley Sorrells. Honorary Pallbearers are Luke Jones, David Kitchens, and John Haines. Junior Pallbearers are Noah and Avery Porter, Mackenzie and Brayden Irvin, Keiser, Kason and Kreuz Land and Knox Jones.

Officiating at the funeral will be Reverend Fred Krebs, St. Paul Lutheran Church Mason, Texas. Funeral services are under the direction of the Mason Funeral Home, Mason, Texas.

Memorials may be made in memory of Lou Etta Probst to St. Paul Lutheran Church or Texas Children's Hospital in memory of Brittany Lynn Vines.

Visitation with family for Lou Etta Probst will be Saturday, September 21, 2019 from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. at Mason Funeral Home. Service will
follow at 11:00 a.m. at St Paul Lutheran Church.  Interment will follow at Camp San Saba Cemetery.
