Obituary

Millie Elois Phillips Durst, at the age of 99 years, passed away peacefully on October 8, 2012 in Brady, Texas.

Lois was born in Valley Spring, Texas on May 7, 1913, to Jim and Carrie Baumann Phillips. She was the eldest of five sisters and two brothers.

She was married on May 3, 1936, to Wilbur Durst in Valley Spring. Wilbur took his new bride to the Union Community in eastern Mason County where they farmed and ranched together for 68 years. They raised Kenneth, Doris Mae and Brenda in this loving home where the doors were always open to family and friends.

Lois worked hard all her life and credits hard work to her living 99 years. She believed in the Lord who gave her many happy days of sunrises and sunsets. She tended to her home and flowers like she did her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, with love and happiness in her heart.

Lois is survived by her three children: Kenneth Durst and wife Virginia, Doris Dannheim and Brenda Comer and husband Seth, all of Mason. She is also survived by ten grandchildren: Sidney Durst, Jeff Durst, Christy Morley, Gina Drake, Kody Dannheim, Donna Tally, Shelia Thomas, Amy Kitchens, Kacy Zaleski and Michael Durst, 21 great-grandchildren, a sister Louise Humphreys and a daughter-in-law Brenda Durst. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Wilbur Durst, three sisters Lura Black, Beulah Long and Violet Durbin, two brothers James Phillips and Billy Louis Phillips and a son-in-law Alvin Dannheim.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 11, at 11:00 a.m. at the First
United Methodist Church in Mason. Interment will follow in the Gooch Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Jeff Durst, Stephen Morley, David Drake, Kody Dannheim, John Tally and Craig Thomas. Visitation with the family will be Wednesday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at Mason Funeral Home.
