Lindell George Estes of Mason, Texas passed away on November 27, 2019 at the age of 89.

He was born on July 11, 1930 to Thomas Roy and Lillie Grace (Brawley) Estes in Ardmore, Oklahoma. The family moved to Mason when he was two and this is where he spent his childhood and adolescent years. He served in the U.S. Army acting in different capacities. Lindell held a position of drill sergeant while stationed in Colorado. It was there he met the love of his life, Betty Pacheco, and they married on June 30, 1951. He spent time in Kansas, France, and Newfoundland until he was honorably discharged in 1954. His employment over the years included carpentry, truck driving, and an equipment operator which took them to California until he eventually returned home to Mason in 1972. He was a member of the Church of Christ.

"Papa" loved God and his family with a passion. He gave us the best of his love and made all of us feel like we were each his #1. He was generous with his time and resources when it came to his family. He enjoyed telling us stories from his life experiences and was a bit of a clown. We are going to miss his presence terribly: the sound of his laughter, his stories, and most of all his outpouring of love on us. He would want us to take comfort in the fact that He is with the Lord and encourage those who don't know Jesus, to believe in and accept Him as your savior, and for those who do know Jesus, to continue to nurture your relationship with Him.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Betty Lee Estes, of Mason and his children, Mary Ellen Martinez and husband Danny, Lindell Lee Estes and wife Pam, Fred Estes and wife Sherry, all of Mason, and Michael Estes and wife Jennifer of San Angelo. He will be fondly remembered by his grandchildren, Matt Holman and wife Kathy of Blanket, Glenda Holman Campos and husband Noel, and Jeremy Estes all of San Antonio, Adam Estes of Oxford, Mississippi, Nicole Estes Banks and husband Josh of Canyon, Brittany Estes and husband Andrew of Williamsburg, Michigan, Dillon Estes and wife Liege, and Brock Estes all of Mason, Bryce Estes and wife Brittany of Hutto, Shayla Estes, Brock Monroe, Macie Monroe, and Jolie Grace Estes all of San Angelo. He also has 11 great-grandchildren, Lane Holman, Logun Holman, Makai Holman, Maxtyn Campos, Hunter Banks, Luke Banks, Hannah Chevalier, Emma Chevalier, Presley Estes, Blakely Estes, and Brooklyn Estes. He is also survived by a sister-in-law, Myrtle Estes Ake, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins whom he dearly loved.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Tommy Estes and wife Beaulah, Clarence Estes, and Wilmar Estes and wife Rose, his sisters, Bertha (Sister) Collins and husband Chick, Velma Crum and husband George, Vivian Selph and husband Alvie, Beatrice Gamel and husband Earnest, Opal Norton and husband Art, a son, Thomas Estes, a granddaughter, Melissa Estes, a nephew, Tommy Wayne Gardner, and a brother-in-law, Alfred Gardner.

Pallbearers are Matt Holman, Jeremy Estes, Adam Estes, Dillon Estes, Brock Estes, and Bryce Estes. Honorary pallbearers are Kathy Holman, Glenda Campos, Noel Campos, Nicole Banks, Josh Banks, Brittany Chevalier, Andrew Chevalier, Liege Estes, Brittany Estes, Shayla Estes, Brock Monroe, Macie Monroe, and Jolie Estes.

Visitation will be at Mason Funeral Home on Monday, December 2 ^nd from 5-7 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held at Church of Christ on Tuesday, December 3 ^rd at 10 a.m. with Mark Hackett officiating and Mark Kirby leading in song. Burial will follow at Gooch Cemetery with military honors provided by the U.S. Army and the Mason American Legion/VFW Post.
