Leta Mae (Williams) Durst, 97, of Mason, passed away Wednesday evening, August 20, 2014. She was born Leta Mae Williams on December 19, 1916 to Henry and Ola Williams on the family ranch in Chesser Valley, Mills County. Leta Mae, born and raised, worked and lived near Mullin most of her life. She was a life-long member of The United Methodist Church, and taught Sunday School in Mullin for many years.

On March 9, 1940 Leta married Andrew "Dusty" Durst in Mullin. They farmed and ranched together and also raised laying hens and sold eggs. They shared a hobby of making stained glass. Together they attended arts and crafts shows across the state where they sold their stained glass. Even though Leta and Dusty had no children, Leta was a "second mother" to Charlie, Don and Kay. They have fond memories of summers spent with Leta and Dusty on the ranch.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Ola Williams; her husband, Dusty Durst, her brother W. Rex Williams, Sr., brother and sisters-in-law Homer and Frances Durst, Lee Roy and Violet Strackbein, Genevieve Reichenau and "Dink" Williams, nieces Jo Ann Childress and Kay Moore. Survivors include her brother-in-law H. C. Reichenau, nephews Charles Reichenau and wife Linda of Mason, Don Reichenau and wife Ginger of Fredericksburg, David Durst and wife Karla of San Antonio, W. Rex Williams, Jr. and wife Debi of Mullin and Jimmy John Williams of Mullin and her special cousin Luther Williams and wife Barbara of Farmersville along with many other relatives and friends.

Visitation with the family will be Friday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at Mason Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 23, at 10:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Mason. Interment will follow in the Gooch Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers are Rex Williams, Clint Reichenau, Ivan Chesser, Cody Reichenau, Albert Evans and Grant Eubank.
