Leo H. "Hoppy" McMillan, of Mason, passed away on Friday, March 25, at the age of 89. Hoppy was born in Mason on February 7, 1922 to Charles Dorman McMillan and Anna Hofmann McMillan. He was raised in Mason and graduated from Mason High School and was a 1943 graduate of Texas A & M with a degree in Animal Husbandry. On December 19, 1942 he married Roberta Owen. Hoppy served his country in the Army Air Corps during World War II flying B 17's in the European Theater of operations.

After the war he returned to Mason and he and Roberta ranched together. Ranching was his true calling and he loved the ranch life and riding horses. Hoppy served his community on the Mason school Board and he was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Sunday Morning Breakfast Class as well as being a member of the Mason Golf Association. In his spare time he loved to fish, enjoyed hunting and gardening and in earlier years he and Roberta could be found dancing in London on Saturday nights. They also enjoyed their Supper Club. Hoppy liked watching his kids and grandkids play football when they were in school and his granddaughter Morgan ride horses.

Hoppy was a man of his word. He was someone you could depend on and he was always a gentleman. He knew the value of being a good listener and people valued his opinion and his advice.

Survivors include his wife Roberta McMillan, of Mason and 3 children Terry McMillan and wife Janice of Rock Springs, Gay Donaldson of Mason and Scott McMillan and wife Amanda of Mason. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren Reid Donaldson and wife Michelle of Plano, Ty McMillan and wife Mary of Ardmore, OK, Colby Donaldson of Los Angeles, CA, Zeno McMillan and wife Becca of Mannsville, OK, Morgan McMillan of Mason and 3 great-grandchildren Bode, Anna and Rory McMillan. He was preceded in death by a sister Grace David.

A memorial service celebrating Hoppy's life will be held on Monday, March 28, at 10:00 a.m. at the Comanche Creek Golf Course. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to West Texas Boy's Ranch or to the charity of one's choice.
