Laurencio Avalos, of Mason, passed away on Wednesday, April 6, at the age of 91. Mr. Avalos is survived by his sister Simona Valdez, of Mason, a son Laurencio Avalos Jr. of Ohio, a daughter Josephine Gomez of Amarillo, step-daughter Carolina Morquecho and husband Mike of Mason and several grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by four brothers Manuel, Jesus, David and Pedro.

Laurencio was born on September 5, 1919 in Langtry, Texas to Tomas and Petra Avalos. He moved to Mason with his parents as a young child. Laurencio served his country in the Army during World War II. After the war, he returned to Mason and worked as a sheep shearer. In his spare time he enjoyed reading.

Funeral services with military honors will be held graveside at the Crosby Cemetery on Thursday, April 7, at 5 p.m. with Rev. Chad Barnett and Wade Powell officiating.
