La Jean Burnett Ramey went to be with the Lord on March 25, 2012 in Midland, Texas. Services will be Thursday, March 28 at 2:00 PM at The Mason Funeral Home with burial in the Gooch Cemetery in Mason, Texas. Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 at the funeral home.
La Jean was the 3rd child born to Arch and Pauline (Nicholas) Burnett. She was born the 14 of June, 1931 at Seagraves, Texas. As a child the family moved from Seagraves to Mason which was her father's birthplace. She was a graduate of Mason High School. In 1950 she married Edwin (Babe) Ramey. Following their marriage they lived in Kansas. Later they lived in Panorama City and Northridge, California. Eventually they moved back to Texas first to Fort Worth and later to Horseshoe Bay. Following her husband's death she lived in Marble Falls before moving to Fredericksburg. During the last year she moved to Midland.
She was preceded in death by her husband E.L (Babe) Ramey, her parents Arch and Pauline Burnett, her sisters Celesta Nobles and Helen McCormick, and her brother Max Burnett.
She is survived by her sisters Nova Belle Ritter and Paula Barbieri of Midland, her brother Bobby Burnett and his wife Marty of Cherokee and brother-in-law David McCormick of Amarillo. She is also survived by her nephews Nickie Nobles and his wife Ann of Mason, Mitchell Ritter and his wife of Midland, Tolley McCormick and his wife Cheryl of San Antonio, Luke Burnett and his wife Erindida of San Angelo, Robert Burnett and his wife Lisa of Moline, IL., nieces Lavern Taylor and her husband Greg of San Antonio and De Aun McCormick and her husband Dennis of Amarillo. She leaves behind many extended family members and friends from all over the United States.
La Jean was a homemaker and a lifelong member of the Church of Christ.
During their marriage she and her husband opened their homes and hearts to many young people thus contributing significantly to their lives.
Memorials may be made to the Gooch Cemetery or a charity of choice.
