Kenneth Walker Polk, of Pontotoc, passed away on Thursday, March 23, at the age of 80. Mr. Polk was born in Streeter, Texas on August 5, 1936 to Walker Polk and Lela Kuhlmann Polk. He married Carla Beth Capps on June 23, 1960 at the Church of Christ building in Mason. They made their home in the Pontotoc Community where they raised three children, Kurt, Kenya and Billy Dale.
Kenneth "K.P." was a hard-working man. He worked as a mechanic for the John Deere distributor in Brady, at Cedar Fiber in Junction, and at the 4K Ranch in Brady as well as doing his own farming. K.P. could fix anything and was always helping his neighbors. He never could get home on time as friends and neighbors would stop him on the way home asking his help fixing their farm equipment.
While Kenneth enjoyed working and helping others, his true love was his family and the time spent with them and attending his grandchildrens' sporting activities.
Kenneth is survived by his wife Carla Beth Polk, of Pontotoc, a daughter Kenya West and husband Wade of San Antonio a son Billy Dale Polk and wife Pam of Pontotoc, 7 grandchildren: Courtney Anderson, Julie Hearn, Kenisha Cantwell,. Zeb Abbott, Dayna Polk, Boden Polk and Amber Polk, 13 great-grandchildren: Tiffany Snow, Bailey Hearn, Ben Anderson, Elizabeth Williams, Camden Cantwell, Kimberlyn Cantwell, Elizabeth Anderson, Aubrey Abbott, Melany Hearn, Averi Abbott, Catherine Anderson, Josephine Anderson, Coleman Cantwell and one great-grandchild on the way Clay Abbott along with an aunt, Oleta Kuhlmann. Kenneth was preceded in death by a son and daughter-in-law Kurt and Carol Polk.
Visitation with the family will be Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Mason Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 25, at 2:00 p.m. in the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Leston Fields leading the service. Interment will follow in the Pontotoc Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Paul Anderson, Cole Cantwell, Chad Hearn, Dennis Townsend, Rusty Capps and Boden Polk.
