Kenneth Loeffler, age 78 passed from this life on June 8, 2013 after a long and valiant battle with pancreatic cancer. Born in Mason, Texas on December 21, 1934, he was the son of Milton E. and Flora Belle Childress Loeffler.

He is survived by his loving wife and constant companion for 57 years, Carolyn, a daughter, Karen Kaye Verell and her husband Al of Round Rock, TX, a son Ken Michael Loeffler and wife Terri, of Austin, TX, three granddaughters, Heather Verell, Audrey Loeffler and Kathryn Loeffler, a grandson, Nick Verell and wife Amanda and two very special great-grandsons Jake and Landon Verell. He is al;so survived by a very special friend, a loyal and dependable employee for the entire 50 years Kenneth was in Business, Oleta Kuhlmann. Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Patsy Grote.

Upon graduation from the University of Texas at Austin in 1958, Kenneth returned to Mason and joined in partnership with his father in the tax accounting, insurance and real estate business known as Loeffler and Loeffler. He retired January 1, 2008.

Through the years Kenneth was involved in many community activities and organizations and served as director and president of the Mason Jaycees, the Mason Chamber of Commerce, Puncher Club and Band Boosters. He participated in the organization of Operation Orphans and the construction of the dorms and kitchen, was involved in the building of the bleachers at the rodeo arena, designed and helped build the community's first miniature golf course and was instrumental in constructing the track and field and concession stand at the high school.

Family visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Monday, June 10. The funeral service, officiated by Rev. Tim Scheffel, will be held in the Mason Funeral Home Chapel at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 11 with burial to follow in Gooch Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers are his life-long friends Bob Capps, Jimmie Jordan and Ron Birk, nephews Don Grote and Craig Grote and his grandson Nick Verell. Honorary pallbearers are his granddaughters Heather Verell, Audrey Loeffler and Kathyrn Loeffler, a brother-in-law Stanley Grote and granddaughter-in-law Amanda Verell.

Memorials in Kenneth's honor may be made to Mason county Cancer Benefit or to the charity of one's choice.

Kenneth enjoyed life in many ways and he was often heard to say, "I had the best childhood and growing up years anyone could possibly have because of neighbors, family and friends and the simple life that came with growing up in Mason." Kenneth always said "I'm a work in progress." His work is now complete.
